Mason, initially an English surname, is now used as a given name, too. The name Mason has been adopted into English from a Germanic language via Old French: masson, maçon.
No saint bore the name Mason. There is, however, Blessed John Mason. He was a 16th century English martyr who was hanged and quartered at Tyburn. He was beatified by pope Pius XI in 1929. His feast day is celebrated on 10th December.
